PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES
AND AWARDS:
Dr. Jane Foley is Senior Vice President, Milken
Educator Awards with the Milken Family
Foundation where she directs the National Educator
Awards program--an award she received in 1994. Jane
earned her doctorate at Purdue University in 1992.
Since completion of her doctorate, she has published
numerous articles and is a frequent presenter at conferences.
Previously, Jane was in public education for twenty-four
years, seven years as an elementary principal and seventeen
years as a teacher, both at the elementary and high
school levels. From 1993-1998, she was the principal
at the technology-rich Flint Lake Elementary School
in Indiana. Under her leadership, Flint Lake attained
state and national recognition in the areas of school
restructuring, professional development, student achievement,
and technology integration. Jane has written three
books that chronicle the experiences of restructuring,
technology integration and technology training that
were implemented successfully at Flint Lake.
Message to Milken Educators:
In February 1998, my leadership role changed from
a principal at the building level to a Vice President
at the Foundation. I would love to hear from other
Milken Educators and get their views on how the Foundation
can work with state agencies and Milken Educators to
expand the impact of the Milken Educator Networks and
develop the potential of our human resources.
