PROFESSIONAL
EXPERIENCES AND AWARDS:
Nathaniel "Nate" Jones,
Indianapolis, principal since 1989 of Allisonville
Elementary School (enrollment 660) at 4900 East 79th
Street and director of elementary education in the
Metropolitan School District of Washington Township,
Indianapolis. He was among Outstanding Young Men
of America in 1988, among 100 Top Educators in North
America in 1984, and 1996 Administrator of the Year
in MSD Washington Township.
Nathaniel Jones considers
it an honor to serve his community in three administrative
capacities - as director of elementary education
for the Metropolitan School District of Washington
Township and as principal of both Hilltop Kindergarten
and Allisonville Elementary School in Indianapolis.
Under Mr. Jones's leadership, Allisonville Elementary
School has implemented ARC (Allisonville Recognition
Club), a program designed to motivate and acknowledge
academic and personal excellence. One of the program's
components is the ARC store, an enterprise fully
operated by students and designed to provide a framework
for practical applications and independent initiative.
Every year, Allisonville Elementary School sponsors
at least three Dad's Club activities in a program
that Mr. Jones helped initiate to involve fathers
in their children's education and to promote positive
male role models. Over the past four years, Mr. Jones
has been working on a technology plan to further
integration of technological applications to the
curriculum.
