On
September 16, 2000, Milken educators traveled to Noblesville,
Indiana for a Camp Safari. Hosted by Rick Crosslin, MEA
'98, Milken educators and their families participated in
a day full of activities.
Janet Steele was the special guest attendee
from the National Milken Educator Network. The agenda for
the day included ideas for improving communication skills,
working on the Mission Statement for the Indiana Milken Educators
Network, and having fun!
During the meeting, it was decided that our
new mission statement should read,
"The mission of the Indiana Milken
Educator Network is to celebrate, support, retain and
advance quality educators, and to advocate for the children
of Indiana"-Sept.16, 2000

 |
| This was one of the several
fun communication activities IMEN did together. This
one started with writing the Olympic Rings on one another's
backs, but the last person didn't feel Olympic Rings.
They thought someone was drawing the number "100" on
their back. |
Alona Leininger (MEA 96) listening
to Sarah Powley (MEA 93) as IMEN brainstorm together
on what the mission statement should be. |
At Camp Safari, Rick Crosslin
and his staff have developed many activities for youth
and adults. This particular experience he called the "ropes".
This is a series of climbing, high walking, and swinging
abilities. There were safety wires and people holding
ropes with safety harnesses. Jan Weir (MEA 97) and her
safety partner were the only ones to try this! |
