INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Education recognized thirty-eight Promising Practices programs across the state today.  The Promising Practices program identifies high-quality education practices and wrap-around services in schools and communities throughout Indiana.

“As Superintendent, I am committed to meeting the unique needs of every student across our state,” said Glenda Ritz, Indiana’s Superintendent of Public Instruction.  “Each Promising Practice highlights a program within our schools that supports the diverse academic or social needs of Hoosier students.  That is why I am honored to recognize these effective Promising Practices today.”

The Promising Practices initiative was created by Superintendent Ritz in 2016 to highlight 200 programs focused on ensuring that all students have access to a high-quality education. In addition to publicly recognizing selected schools, each promising practice will be shared across the state as an example of best practices that are having a positive impact on Hoosier students.

Each month the Department will announce selected programs based on a review of the schools’ program and input from experts who work directly with the schools.  To date, 116 Promising Practices have been identified throughout the state.
