The Indiana Department of Education released 17 new Promising Practices today. The Promising Practices program recognizes high-quality educational programs and wraparound services in schools throughout the state.
“Over the past four years, I have had the honor of visiting and touring exceptional school programs in communities throughout the state,” said Glenda Ritz, Indiana’s Superintendent of Public Instruction. “High-quality educational programs and student support services like those we are recognizing today are vital to ensuring that Indiana’s children are prepared for success in school and in life. That is why I am pleased to honor 17 additional Promising Practices today that are having a positive influence on Hoosier students.”
The Promising Practices program identifies school programs that are student-centered and focus on positively impacting students though innovative programming and activities that provide a high-quality learning environment and experience. In addition to receiving public recognition, each Promising Practice will be shared with educators and school leaders across the state as an example of best practices that have had a positive impact on Indiana’s students.
Today’s Promising Practices were identified in the areas of family and community engagement, school safety, data driven decision making, school counseling, climate and culture, and quality wraparound services.
To date, the Department has recognized 186 Promising Practices. In honor of Indiana’s bicentennial, the Department will recognize a total of 200 Promising Practices before the end of 2016.
