INDIANAPOLIS – Superintendent Glenda Ritz has invited Laci Slaughterback, Miss Indiana Bully Basher 2013 to the Indiana Dept. of Education booth at the Indiana St. Fair, Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 2:30 pm in the Toyota Expo Hall next to the Old Fashion Hooks Drug Store.

“I’m very excited to have Miss Indiana Bullying Basher at the DOE booth to share her mission through education and awareness to fight bullying among young people,” said Ritz.

Slaughterback, 21, joined girls from all over Indiana to compete for the title of Miss Indiana Bully Basher 2013. Slaughterback is a senior at Indiana University Southeast, majoring in elementary education. She will travel all over the state of Indiana with the rest of the Bully Basher team to schools for an informative, interactive 45 minute assembly on anti-bullying.

The Bully Basher program is an anti-bullying organization founded by Miss Teen America, Katie Himes. As a contestant in several beauty pageants, Himes was required to choose a platform that reflected her passion for a charity or cause. She focused on anti-bullying efforts. Himes, however, took her passion beyond the stage and reached out to others by creating the Bully Basher program. It is an interactive program for students of all ages that seeks to stop bullying, empower those who have been victims, and create awareness for future bullying situations, in an environment that teaches students not to be judgmental of others. The program has reached over 10,000 students. For more information about Bully Basher click on the following link:
