The Food Distribution Program (FDP) is one of the Child Nutrition Programs administered by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). Through this program, eligible institutions are able to receive food made available by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Currently, those institutions eligible to receive this food include schools and other sponsors of the National School Lunch Program as well as some sponsors of the Summer Food Service Program for Children. The food is distributed to eligible institutions through a network of warehouses throughout the state.

**NOTE: Please Remember to have school staff available to receive commodity deliveries or make alternate arrangements with your warehouse during adverse weather conditions, school breaks/holidays, recess or other inopportune times.

 

Please remember the Food Distribution Program (commodities) only represents 20% of your food needs. You will still need to purchase food commercially. It is good practice to never menu commodity items until they are delivered and in hand.

How can I qualify for the Food Distribution Program (FDP) commodities?

  • Sponsors must currently be on the National School Lunch Program or Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).
  • Sponsors on the NSLP must have submitted claims for one year.
  • The sponsor’s meals cannot be vended or catered.

To file a program complaint of discrimination, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, (AD-3027) found online at: http://www.ascr.usda.gov/complaint_filing_cust.html, and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form.
