The Indiana Department of Education, Division of School and Community Nutrition Programs announces the 2014 NSLP Equipment Grant.  Indiana is receiving  $767,685 in funding from USDA through the 2014 Agriculture Appropriations Act.  Using these funds, Indiana will competitively award individual grants to Indiana schools to purchase equipment to serve healthier meals, meet updated meal patterns, with emphasis on more fruits and vegetables in school meals, improve food safety, and expand access.  For complete information on the grant opportunity, and application guidance see the following resources:

  • 2014 Equipment Assistance Grant Description-This grant announcement document contains complete information on the grant opportunity.  This document explains the criteria that we will use in selecting awards.
  • 2014 Equipment Assistance Grant Planning Worksheet Template-Use this document to plan your application submission.  This EXCEL template allows you to compile the information that you will need to complete the online application (see #3 immediately below.)  DO NOT MAIL THIS document to the State Agency.  It is for your use and records only.
  • 2014 Equipment Assistance Grant Application-This is the actual ONLINE Grant Application.  You MUST enter your grant application here to be considered for funding.  The online form does NOT allow saving of a partially completed application so you will have to enter all the information in one session.  For this reason we supply you with the template (see #2 above) to compile and organize your responses.  Please note that applications are due by December 31, 2014.

This funding opportunity is very similar to the previous Stimulus Equipment Grant in 2009 and the 2010 NSLP Equipment Grant.  Preference will generally be given to schools and corporations that DID NOT receive grants in those two previous initiatives.  We anticipate giving between 40 and 50 grants, with a maximum of $20,000 per award.

We are now accepting nominations for the 2015 School Food Service Employee of the Year.
