BMIT Industry Certification, College Credit, and Grant Information

Business and Information Technology programs in Indiana are encouraged to offer a variety of industry certifications and college credit as part of the Information Technology Academy offerings. The Indiana Department of Education/OCTE/BMIT has partnerships with various organizations to allow for reduced pricing and/or industry training. In addition, we have a partnership with IUPUI to offer college credit for students enrolled in CTE Business Technology Lab programs and/or Information Technology: Interactive Media programs. Certified Internet Web Professional (CIW)

Certified Internet Web Professional (CIW) is an industry certification for students interested in pursuing career pathways in web design. The BMIT at the Indiana Department of Education has developed a state partnership with Prosoft Learning to offer the CIW certification to high school students enrolled in specific Business and Information Technology High School courses. High School of Business

High School of Business is a business administration program with the goal of preparing students to excel in college business programs.  Each school is required to offer at least six of the courses; four other courses are optional.  To accommodate the many types of schedules that high schools offer, the courses are written as 0.5 credit semester-length courses.  Schools on block schedules can combine two courses per block. IUPUI/IDOE College Credit Partnership

The Computer and Information Technology (CIT) at IUPUI and Business, Marketing, and Information Technology (BMIT) at the Indiana Department of Education has developed a partnership that allows students who are enrolled in specific Business and Information Technology high school courses to take online college courses from IUPUI. This program fulfills the requirements for the new Technical Honors Diploma and the six required college credits option. It also opens up opportunities for students interested in Information Technology as a career pathway to pursue higher level training beyond what may be available at the high school level.
