CTE Marketing, Management, & Entrepreneurship Course Descriptions, Content Standards, and Performance Expectations
Schools are required to use the Indiana State Board of Education approved course titles for Career and Technical Education Marketing, Management and Entrepreneurship. These courses must be taught by a licensed Marketing Education instructor as all courses listed under marketing are vocational. A Business Education license is not sufficient to teach these courses unless a course waiver is submitted. The only exceptions are courses that are listed as part of the Business, Marketing, and Information Technology course offerings such as Marketing and Entrepreneurship. (See BMIT course offerings.) However, if this course is taught by a business instructor, it may not be counted as part of the Form 30A vocational funding for the school. The Radio/TV Broadcasting/ Telecommunications course requires a special license.
The course titles were approved in May 2005 for use beginning with the 2006-2007 school year. Schools are strongly encouraged to review the CTE Marketing, Management, and Entrepreneurship course descriptions, content standards, and performance expectations as they develop and update curriculum. The revision dates will be listed in the footer of each PDF document. Currently, the format has been revised and will have a November 2007 revision date.
In addition to the content standards and performance expectations that are posted on the web, a grid has been developed for each course that contains the following:
- Content Standards
- Performance Expectations
- Instructional Strategies
- Assessment Strategies
- Supplementary Resources
This document provides more extensive instruction and helpful hints that will benefit the instructor. It also shows in more detail how the Academic Standards for Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies are integrated into each course through instructional strategies and assessment strategies. This document is not available on the web but a CD is distributed each year at the November Business and Marketing Conference. The CD also includes 450+ projects that may be used for various Marketing, Management, Entrepreneurship, and Co-Operative Education classes. Contact Barb Beadle for more information.
