The Indiana Department of Education, Office of Career and Technical Education, Business, Marketing, and Information Technology, provides a number of professional development opportunities for Business and Marketing Educators along with a number of national conferences. The following is a list of 2008-2009 professional development opportunities for Business, Marketing, and Information Technology, CTE Business and Information Technology, and CTE Marketing, Management, and Entrepreneurship instructors:

June 21, 2008, Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. IUPUI Campus Center Knowledge for College. Don't miss the first ever national event on how to successfully transition from high school student to college student. Open to high school students, college bound students, parents and guardians. July 28-31, 2008 IUPUI, Indianapolis Tech Camp 2008. The highly successful Tech Camp for Teachers will hold its 8th annual event on the IUPUI Campus from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Tech Camp offers teachers a chance to learn techniques in teaching the latest software and computer programming, as well as opportunities to discuss curriculum, assignments, teaching strategies, and level objectives. Tech Camp attendees get to meet with college professors and authors, to discuss collaborative projects, articulated credit, and college expectations. This is a hands-on workshop. 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex, Danville, IN ESI: Entrepreneurship Investigation Workshop. The purpose of this workshop is to provide Middle School Teachers with an understanding of how to use the ESI: Entrepreneurship Investigation materials in your classroom. Trainers from the Indiana Council for Economic Education will cover strategies for implementing ESI as well as the economic and entrepreneurship concepts that students will learn and ultimately use. Registration information available online. This is an excellent fit for Business Middle Level programs. CRU credits available.
September 26-27, 2008 Adam's Mark Hotel IACTE Conference. The Indiana Association for Career and Technical Education hosts their annual conference for career and technical education teachers in all disciplines. A tentative agenda and registration materials are available. This conference is geared to teachers who currently teach in vocational (CTE) programs.
November 8-11, 2008 Austin, TX Entrepreneurship Education Forum. More information to follow.
November 14-15, 2008 Adam's Mark Hotel Business, Marketing, and IT Professional Development Conference. Theme: "Believing in Our Future. Building on Our Past." You won't want to miss this conference where you will have opportunities to get updated on new initiatives and have fun networking with other teachers. If you are interested in being a vendor or submitting a speaker proposal, you may access the forms on our web site. You may access information on the November Conference web site as it becomes available. Online registration will be available September 19.

June 8-12, 2009 Carmel High School

Project-Based Learning Workshop. Business and Marketing teachers will have an opportunity to develop projects such as In Baskets, Minibaskets, Learning Activities Projects (LAPS), and Internet Projects for use in various business and marketing classes. This workshop is open to individuals who have previously attended a summer PBL Workshop or who have some experience in this area. Registration info available. June 15-18, 2009 Turkey Run State Park, Indiana ICE Cooperative Education Coordinators. Workshop will be held at Turkey Run State Park. If you are a cooperative education teacher in any discipline, you will want to attend this workshop to network with other co-op coordinators. You will receive materials that other coordinators will share, hear federal and state update and labor laws, and have many more opportunities to hear special speakers and get new ideas.
