The Indiana-ACTE, in conjunction with the ACTE, supports a very active awards program.  It is the tradition of the Indiana-ACTE to charge the immediate past-president with the assignment of Awards Chairperson.  Likewise, it is the practice to have the immediate past-president of each affiliate to serve on the awards committee.  This committee is responsible to collect nominations for the various awards, evaluate the nominations, and select the award winners.  The committee also is responsible for the awards banquet at the annual conference.

The awards to be presented at the annual conference include:
            Award of Merit

            Citation Award

            Janene Dawes Outstanding Service Award
            Outstanding New C&TE Teacher Award
            Outstanding C&TE Professional Educator Award
            C&TE Teacher of the Year

The committee is also responsible for the selection of nominees for the following regional awards that may advance to a national awards winner:
Awards of Merit (Region only – 2 per State)
            Outstanding New C&TE Teacher
            Outstanding C&TE Professional Educator
            C&TE Teacher of the Year

The regional winner from the categories of Outstanding New C&TE Teacher, Outstanding C&TE  Professional Educator, and C&TE Teacher of the Year are entered into the ACTE Awards competition.  Additionally, every six years Indiana will present an Award of Excellence to a government official from the state.  This award will be given in 2011 and 2017.  This Award is rotated through the states in the region and is presented during the Region 3 Conference hosted by the state.
