Indiana School Counselor Standards for Licensing

 

The Division of Professional Standards (DPS) awards licenses for school counselor in the state of Indiana. You may reach them in the following ways:

In 1988, DPS created a committee for School Counseling at the request of the Indiana School Counselor Association and the Indiana Counseling Association. This committee is made up of school counselors, counselor educators, school administrators, school teachers, a representative from DOE, and a representative from the DPS Board. Financial sponsorship of the committee is provided by the Indiana School Counselor Association.

In accordance with Indiana Licensing Rules 2002, school counselors must meet three sets of standards in order to be licensed:

  • School Services Professionals - Content
  • School Services Professionals - Developmental
  • School Counseling Professionals
