Information Literacy Integration Project 2003

• Overview

Technology has become the new literacy of the 21st century.  If students are to acquire the skills and attitudes needed to succeed in an ever-changing global environment, they must be immersed in all facets of technology and research methods.  From data research and analysis to multimedia presentations, every child should be given appropriate opportunities to explore and use broad spectra of technology.  To provide real examples for students and to inspire them to stretch their own potential, teachers must also make daily use of integrated technology in lesson delivery.  Kids with H.E.A.R.T. is an exemplary model of teacher creativity and skill in using technology and library research skills to address core standards in literacy and science while expanding awareness of an important environmental concern.  The technology enhanced lesson makes learning fun and exciting, and stimulates students to continue research and create projects of their own.
