Technology Literacy Challenge
Fund
|
The application deadline for 2001 has passed. |
The Indiana Department of Education has been awarded a $6 million grant under the Technology Literacy Challenge Fund program. This year the Indiana Department of Education will target secondary schools that propose creative projects using technology. Since 1997 the High Tech School program has funded more than 120 proposals. This year the High Tech School program will be able to fund up to 30 more proposals.
The High Tech School project presents an important opportunity to improve teaching and learning in Indiana's middle and high schools. In order to meet the challenge that every student will use technology to facilitate lifelong learning in the 21st Century, it is important that schools, the private sector, teachers, students, governments, and community groups work in partnership toward achieving the following five High Tech School goals:
All teachers will have the training and support they need to help all students learn through the use of computers and access to the information superhighway;
All teachers and students will have technology and information literacy skills;
Every classroom will be connected to the information superhighway;
Effective and engaging software and on-line resources will be an integral part of every school curriculum; and
Instructional technology will be used to support students in achieving Indiana's academic standards.
The request for proposal and additional information about preparing a proposal for the High Tech School Project is posted at <http://www.doe.in.gov/olr/hitech>.
