Indiana Legislative Initiatives: 1997-1999

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY FUND -- $ 4 MILLION ANNUALLY
Project 4 R's $ 2 m Early childhood reading, writing, math, and remediation programs in K-1; 1222 schools funded; 172 remain to be funded
Buddy System $ 1.5 m Computer in the home project for grades 4 through 6 
Other $ .5 m Community and information networks and special assistant for technology 
INDIANA TECHNOLOGY FUND -- $ 22 MILLION ANNUALLY
Public libraries $ 2 million annually Library technology projects including INSPIRE project
Intelenet Commission $ 3 million annually Matching grants to schools for Internet connections
$ 2 million annually State backbone project
Technology Plan Grant Program  $ 15 million annually

Grants distributed within a six year cycle to corps that have approved plans, beginning with lowest assessed valuation per student ADM: 

Group Two, 33 districts, @ $130/ADM: funded,1997-98 Group Three, 87 districts, @ $100/ADM: funded,1998-99
