Although we have made tremendous progress in Indiana by providing an expansive infrastructure, multimedia hardware, Internet access, and other appropriate resources, it is still exciting to see the phenomenal examples of our teachers’ skill and creativity in engaging their students in hands-on opportunities for learning, utilizing these tools. Technology in Curriculum captures the essence of a seamless integration of technological resources to address “core” academic standards. It validates the importance of planning and professional development of our teaching staff and secures the role of our media programs as a vital part of enabling and supporting the instructional delivery process.

Technology in Curriculum offers five exciting examples of how teachers at the IPS Center for Inquiry use appropriate resources to enhance teaching and learning. You will see the effective use of digital cameras to distance learning applications which engage students in an informative electronic field trip. Perhaps the most powerful examples include the principal as the instructional leader. The principal models the expectations for utilizing technology in every facet of schoolwork and engages parents in training opportunities to become savvy partners in the child’s learning process.

We invite you to view these examples and look forward to your feedback and to learning about other innovative practices that enhance the Indiana teaching and learning experience.

Our gratitude to the
Indiana Department of Education
Office of Learning Resources
which made this production possible.
