What’s Different About Teaching Reading to Students Learning English? – A Workshop for Trainers

Learn how to use this curriculum to provide professional development to teachers who teach reading in classes with English language learners.

Please join us at this three-day training of trainers on CAL’s newly revised What’s Different? professional development program. Participants will receive the complete training kit, step-by step directions on how to deliver trainings, hands-on experience with using the materials, training tips, and much more, including information about other CAL programs and services.

Cost: $850/person. Two or more attendees pay $800/person.

Chinese Language Teachers Workshop

Who is invited: Anyone who is interested is welcome – you do not need to be a Chinese teacher to attend this workshop.

  1. Certification options for teaching Chinese in American Schools, including discussion of school options, testing requirements, and application process
  2. Differences between teaching heritage Chinese students and American students

Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program – Uruguay Summer Program 2008

The Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program is currently seeking elementary level teachers or administrators with Spanish proficiency and strong cross-cultural skills to act as teacher trainers and make presentations on general education topics in Uruguay for six weeks in Summer 2008.

French Teaching Assistant Program – 2008-09 academic year

The French Ministry of Education and the Cultural Services at the French Embassy annually offer between 1,000 and 1,500 teaching assistant positions in French primary and secondary schools in all regions of France. Assistantships involve teaching 12 hours of English per week in an academic setting.

Eligible candidates are between 20 and 34 years of age, have completed at least two years of university study and have minimal proficiency in French.
