Priority/Focus Schools

Under Indiana’s Federal Accountability Waiver, schools who receive a “D” or “F” school designation are considered to be in federal school improvement. If a school received a “D” in 2012-2013, that school will be classified as a Focus school in 2013-2014. If a school received an “F” in 2012-2013, that school will be classified as a Priority school in 2013-2014. Beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, any school that received a “D” or “F” in both the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years will be classified as a Priority school.

Date to Remember

  • November 30, 2014 – submit SAP to Outreach Coordinator
  • By January 1, 2015 – Priority schools hold public hearing and allow public testimony concerning improvement status
  • By February , 2015 – Submit your public hearing notice to Outreach Coordinator (find sample here)
  • February 28, 2015 – Ensuring Leadership Documentation due to Outreach Coordinator
