Installing the Adobe Reader on Mac OS X

Check to see if you have the Adobe Reader installed on your computer by clicking on the phrase "Check My Computer". If you have the Adobe Reader, it will start-up automatically and a message will appear in your web browser window. You will not need to continue with these directions. Click here to return to the Electronic Library Page.

Caution It's always a good idea to be aware of the latest software releases for any computer program. Keep a list of programs handy such as the free Adobe Reader and their current version number.

Click on the link that reads "Get Adobe Reader."

FOLLOW ALL THE DIRECTIONS on the Adobe Download page. There are three steps to downloading the program, the most important is selecting the platform you are using. Make sure to select from the pull down window, the platform on which you are installing the Adobe Reader. Scroll down the page and click on the "Download" button.

This will take you to a page describing some additional notes on the Adobe Reader. Please READ ALL THE DIRECTIONS as they may affect the performance of the Acrobat Reader on your computer.

Click the DOWNLOAD button provided on the page and your computer should automatically start downloading the Acrobat Installer. Be patient as the browser downloads the installer.

Once the download is complete, the Mac OS Package will open automatically and the installation process will begin. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully.

The installer may ask several questions pertaining to your specific computer and Internet connection. Read the questions carefully and answer them to the best of your ability.

 


 

Installing the Adobe Reader on Windows OS

Click here to download the Adobe Reader.

Check to see if you have the Adobe reader installed on your computer by clicking on the phrase "Check My Computer". If you have the Adobe Reader, it will start-up automatically and a message will appear in your web browser window. You will not need to continue with these directions. Click here to return to the Electronic Library Page.

Click on the link that reads "Get Adobe Reader."

FOLLOW ALL THE DIRECTIONS on the Adobe Download page. Click the button that reads "Download Adobe Reader". A pop-up will appear asking you to save the installer to your computer. Click "Save File".

The installer will start downloading to your computer.

When the download has completed, quit your web browser.

Caution  You cannot install the Adobe Reader with your web browser running.

Find the application beginning with "AdbeRdr..." and launch it. Follow the on-screen directions to install the Reader.

Several informational dialog boxes will appear which you should read.

The installation will be completed when you see a dialog box with the title "Setup Complete". You may choose to view the Read me file, or uncheck the box and click the "Finish" button.

 

Setup is now complete. To check if your installation was successful, go to the following web address www.doe.in.gov/publications, scroll to the area of the page that indicates "Download the Adobe Reader" and click on the link "Check My Computer"
