Six Indiana teachers have been named finalists for the annual Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). The finalists will be recognized Feb. 15 at a luncheon at Marian College.

Deborah Teuscher, science, Pike High School, Indianapolis
William Huston, science, Jefferson High School, Lafayette
John Taylor, science, Elkhart Memorial High School, Elkhart
Letitia McCallister, math, Hamilton Southeastern High School, Fishers
Douglas Klumpe, math, William Henry Harrison High School, West Lafayette
Angela Moreman, math, Creekside Middle School, Carmel

Finalists are selected based on their knowledge of the subject they teach, ability to motivate students and student success in their subject area. Final awardees will be named later this spring.

The organization, PAEMST, recognizes mathematics and science teachers for kindergarten through grade six in odd-numbered years and secondary teachers in even numbered years. Since 1983 more than 3,700 teachers have been recognized nationally.
