State Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Suellen
Reed will be joined by U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education Ray Simon
to announce the 2007 Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) standings for
Indiana’s school corporations and schools at 10 a.m. (EDT)
Tuesday, March 25 in the Indiana Statehouse, Room 228.
Simon will discuss the details of the U.S. Department of Education’s
plan to give states more flexibility in school accountability and
meeting student needs.
NOTE: The Indiana Department of Education anticipates
releasing embargoed AYP data for local school corporations and
schools to media at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 24 to provide additional
time in preparing coverage of this complex subject. All 2007 AYP
data remains embargoed until 11 a.m. (EDT) on March 25. This information
should not be broadcast, appear in print/online or otherwise distributed
publicly until after that time.
