Underage Drinking
Alcohol use by underage youth is an on-going problem in Indiana and nationwide. In 2006, the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Use by Indiana Children and Adolescents survey conducted annually by the Indiana Prevention Resource Center found monthly alcohol use rates for 6th-12th graders that were higher than the use rates for any other substance. Addressing the problem of underage drinking requires the focus of the entire community including parents, school personnel, law enforcement, community leaders and retailers.
