Overcoming Barriers to School Reentry
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
(OJJDP) announces the availability of "Overcoming Barriers
to School Reentry." This 2-page Fact Sheet describes a model
for overcoming barriers to school reentry developed by how the Center
for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services (CASES) in New
York City.
For youth leaving custody, a return to school is integral
to successful reentry into the community. The Fact Sheet details
how three CASES programs (the Committee on Court-Involved Students,
the School Connection Center, and the Community Prep High School)
are helping court-involved youth continue their education and reenter
their communities.
