Reading the document for the Due date of Direct Verification what is the actual due date.

In the Purpose section it states November 15, 2007
In the Instructions it states End of December 2007

The purpose of this data collection is to expedite and assist in the USDA required verification of a sample of Free and Reduced Price Meal Applications. USDA regulations require that a sample (3%) of Free and Reduced Price Applications be verified annually, beginning on October 1. Task must be completed by November 15th of each year.

Audience
Participation in Direct Verification is voluntary for public schools, accredited nonpublic school and charter schools at this time.

Instructions
The required data should be collected, combined into a file, and submitted to the Department of Education through the Application Center.

The collection period will begin on October 1, 2007 and will be available until the end of December 2007. During this time you can submit the file and request verification matches. If you load data again, it will first delete all records for your school corporation, so you must reload all records each time.

USDA Verification involves selecting a sample (3% usually) of the applications on file on October 1.  The applications in this sample must be verified by November 15 (the process must be completed).  The results of the Verification process must be reported to the State Agency via the Verification Summary Report by December 15.

Verification of the applications in the selected sample can be accomplished in a variety of ways, either thorugh the Direct Verification technique hosted on the STN Application Center, or by contacting households and requesting required information.  Direct Verification is one method that can voluntarily be used.  We think it's easier to do than contacting the household, but all applications won't be Directly Verifiable and so you'll have to use household contact for some after attempting DV.  The use of DV is totally optional.  We're making a tool available to use.

The DV application will be available on the STN website from approximately October 1 through the end of December each year.  Unlike Direct Certification (DC), which is available all year, DV technology has no real use outside of the USDA mandated Verification process.
