A student enrolled last year on 8/21/2006, left the U.S. on 4/18/2007 and returned on 8/16/2007.  The student has not attended a full year and did not take ISTEP Eng. 

If the student was given the ISTEP+ exemption in Fall 06, he cannot receive it again in Fall 07.  It is a one-time only exemption.  If the student did not receive the exemption in Fall 06, he may receive it for Fall 07.

I have a LEP student that is in her first year of enrollment. We have given her the math portion of the ISTEP but we are opting for the LAS Links English in Spring of 2008. My question is: how do we code the test booklet and the blank English tests? The answers are blank due to the fact that she is not taking those tests and we do not want the tests to be counted as invalid.

Leave any portion of the test not taken – blank. Make sure that your school corporation reports this student as meeting the <1 year criteria. (This is separate reporting via STN LEP/ISTEP+).
