Regarding the assigning of the STN number: Always do a lookup on a student before assigning a STN number.

When data is transferred for the STN Lookup, an error and a link to duplicate student request is generated when the students last name and first name match exactly against an existing STN Lookup record that has a different STN number.

An STN number can be assigned to PK and PW students, who are not enrolled in your school, assign them the next available STN number from your school. Data submitted for the STN Lookup provides a school number that simply refers to the “Last Known School”. The last known school may be a school that just assigned the STN number.

Students who attend multiple schools, only one school, the school that maintains the student permanent record, needs to be submitted for STN Lookup data.
