STN>Memo: School Calendar (DOE-CL) for the 2007-08 School Year

SUBJECT:	School Calendar (DOE-CL) for the 2007-08 School Year

This letter contains the instructions for the submission of 2007-2008 School Calendar (DOE-CL) and reference to the Student Release for Program and Professional Development (DOE-SRPD). School and corporation users access both applications with their school number and assigned PIN number. The DOE-CL is similar in function to the DOE-CID Certification of Instructional Days that is due by June 15, 2007 and can be found at the same location. Instructions and accessing the School Calendar can be found at http://www.doe.in.gov/htmls/education.html.

The Division of School Accreditation, Assistance, and Awards uses the information submitted on the DOE-CL to verify that schools conduct a minimum of 180 days of student instruction and that every student instructional full day meets the minimum time requirements of five hours of instructional time for Grades 1 through 6 and six hours for Grades 7 through 12 as required by law. (511 IAC 6.1-3-1)

It is also time to request approval for the 2007-2008 Student Release for Program and Professional Development (DOE-SRPD). More information and reporting of this data can be found the K-12 Data Page at http://www.doe.in.gov/htmls/education.html. It is recommended that the DOE-CL be completed before the DOE-SRPD. The DOE-SRPD as reported; will be combined with the DOE-CL to provide calculation of the amount of time available for professional development days and parent teacher conferences. This enhanced function will not be available until approximately July 15, 2007. After this date, access the DOE-CL and review the information necessary for planning of the 2007-2008 school year.

The deadline for submittal of this information is July 13, 2007. The School Calendar will remain open throughout the 2007-2008 school year so that information can be updated as it occurs in preparation for the Certification of Instructional Days for the 2007-2008 school year in May of 2008.
