Full-Day Kindergarten Grant

This week's Superintendent's Mailing includes information about the Full-Day Kindergarten Grant.  Please carefully review the memorandum, grant information, question and answer, and general guidance documents.

This year we ask all School Corporations and Charter Schools that include Kindergarten to submit an online application.  For those that do not intend to apply, we ask only for identifying information and a declaration that you will not apply.  We do not want the deadline to pass and have you lose out.  If you decline this year (which will have no effect on next year's eligibility), we will not bother you with reminders.  If we do not hear from you, we will bother you with reminders.

Those that intend to apply will provide the anticipated number of full-day students for 2007-2008 and identify the assessment(s) you will use.  The anticipated enrollment will be used to calculate a planning figure that will be provided to you no later than June 25.  You then may make programming and budget decisions.  Further information about professional development, assessment, and evaluation will be provided after we have discussions with the State Board of Education at the June Board meeting.

The information about the grant is available at http://www.doe.in.gov/super/2007/05-May/051107/FDKGrant.html.

The online application is available at http://mustang.doe.in.gov/dg/fdk/07-Grant-App.cfm.  This link is provided only to Superintendents and Charter School officials. The application must be submitted electronically no later than 5 p.m. EDT on June 15, 2007.
