Memorandum - Preservice School Bus Driver Training

Please continue to register trainees attending the course using the telephone number listed for each host. Likewise, when a trainee is registered and later decides not to attend, it is appropriate to contact the host site and cancel the registration. It is important that the employer, not the driver candidate, register their drivers. In the event that changes must be made or a class must be canceled, we will contact the employer. Also, be sure to check the schedule (above) frequently for any last minute changes.

After registering a trainee, if the school wishes to start training immediately, the employer may request a certificate of enrollment (blue card) prior to the class. (Otherwise, the certificate will be issued at the class.) The request must be in writing on employer letterhead and include the trainee’s name as it is to appear on the certificate, their social security number, and the preservice class they will be attending. Such requests are accepted via fax (317) 233-0858 and e-mail mlarocco@doe.in.gov. Please allow at least 10 days to receive the certificate.
