IUPUI School of Education Summer Teacher Workshop

From the Inside Out: How Indiana's Courts Work

This hands-on workshop is designed to:

  • familiarize participants with the daily operation of Indiana's various courts
  • provide resources to use in teaching about the courts and the law

The Indiana Supreme Court will provide a $500 stipend to the first 24 registrants.

Registration for graduate credit or license renewal is completed through the IUPUI School of Education at 317.274.6801.

Reimbursement for travel costs for those outside Indianapolis is also available. Contact Dr. Osborn for more information.

Teachers will:

  • visit both trial and appellate courts
  • tour the women's prison in Indianapolis
  • meet with judges, lawyers, and court personnel
  • research in the law library
  • talk with representatives from the Attorney General and Public Defender's Office
  • engage in simulations of proceedings like jury selection and scripted trials
  • participate in an oral argument in the Indiana Supreme Court courtroom
