School Technology Profile v2.0

Welcome to the 2000 - School Technology Profile  home page.  The School Technology Profile is a web-powered process to collect and summarize technology-related information from Indiana's public schools.  The process is designed to require a minimum of time and provide a wealth of information about the status of technology in our public schools.  This information will be used by planners, legislators, and others as new programs are designed for the future.  Reports will also be available for each School Corporation so that you will have a gauge of how well your schools are performing.

The Profile is divided into seven (7) sections:

- Administrative Central Office
- Connectivity
- Content
- Hardware
- Computers in the Home
- Professional Development
- Integration and Use

An option is available to check your completed information to make sure that all items were addressed and that there are no obvious errors in the data.

Almost all items are single answer unless Choose all that apply is indicated. When put into final html code, each item will only permit the appropriate response type (single or multiple).

There is a Comments button at the end of most of the informational pages. You may use this button to submit your comments or you can simply email stp@doe.in.gov. Comments and suggestions submitted this way will be reviewed by the School Technology Profile team at DOE to make sure that your suggestions for change and improvement are incorporated wherever possible.

We look forward to your input!

INTRODUCTION

This tool was developed for Indiana schools, and builds on work completed by the CEO Forum.  We gratefully acknowledge the Forum's work and their permission to build on their work. Data from this effort will be published in aggregated form. Since this profile covers a broad range of topics, you may want to consider a team approach for providing the information. A team might include a technology coordinator, one or more teachers, and a building principal or superintendent. Click here for more thoughts about using a team.

After completing all sections of the profile, schools will be able to request a copy of their responses. School corporations may also request a compiled report for all schools in their district.

It is VERY important that the questions be answered as accurately as possible. The information obtained here will be used by legislators and policy makers to guide the development of future programs for technology.

GENERAL

Information should be provided on a building by building basis. Networks, professional development, and overall implementation plans may vary by location. Also, a short section is included in the survey for administrative buildings. Always choose the option which best describes your answer. If more than one answer is correct, choose the one that most accurately reflects the current state of technology in the school. Opinion questions -- questions designed to elicit an opinion, are in ITALICS. These questions are important but are an optional part of the inventory. Opinion questions usually ask you to complete a phrase or statement.

Since several schools in your corporation may share the same general configuration and/or status, after completing one survey, you may apply that survey to other schools and use your same answers. Instructions for answering the survey for multiple schools are included here.
