Byron has worked for many years as department head and agriculture teacher at Lebanon High School. He believes in “teaching by doing” and the mentoring and professional development model he founded models that philosophy. TALL, Tiger Academy for Lessons Learned, is a program that helps teachers to realize their full potential by learning through their colleagues and holding themselves accountable. His dedication to this program has helped numerous teachers and students not only develop in their careers, but also expand their interpersonal skills, relationships with others, and citizenship from watching the example that he sets every day.

A nominator wrote, “Byron is one of the most dedicated, innovative and self-motivated people that I have ever met. He constantly serves as a role model to people of all ages and backgrounds and lives to improve the lives of those around him.” His innovation in the classroom has allowed several students to earn college credit while still in high school. He instills a passion for learning and excellence in all that he does.
