Welcome to the Indiana Teacher of the Year Program!
The Indiana Teacher of the Year Program (INTOY) is excited to announce the 2017 Teacher of the Year Application. Applications are due July 11, 2016. Please review the INTOY Application Packet and the INTOY Program documents for further information. The application will also be available on our Indiana Teacher of the Year website http://www.doe.in.gov/toy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Teacher of the Year Coordinator, Chris Kates, at email@example.com.
About the INTOY Program:
Each year, the Indiana Department of Education conducts this special program to recognize outstanding classroom teachers from across the state. One person, in accordance with National Teacher of the Year guidelines, is chosen to represent Indiana teachers at the national level.
All school corporations are invited to share in this recognition program by honoring their teachers and nominating one teacher to represent local educators at the state level of the program. IDOE hopes the underlying idea behind the recognition of excellent teachers will spread to every community in Indiana.
NOTE: Indiana's program is conducted in association with The National Teacher of the Year Program (a project of the Council of Chief State School Officers sponsored by ING).
The mission of the Indiana Teacher of the Year Program is to develop a community of TOY’s who, through the exchange of knowledge, vision, experiences and opportunities grow, promote, and celebrate the teaching profession and educators as leaders.
The goal of the Indiana Teacher of the Year Program is to inspire, rejuvenate, and celebrate the teaching profession.
Indiana Teachers of the Year:
The Indiana Teachers of the Year (INTOYs) are the voice of education throughout Indiana and the Nation. The INTOY award is a lifetime role in education, which has many opportunities to celebrate teaching and uplift the teaching profession. INTOYs are comprised of a network of exceptional teachers whom are now retired educators, administrators, college professors, and teacher leaders that continually provide support to the education community.
Indiana Teacher of the Year Selection Committee:
The Indiana Teacher of the Year Selection Committee is comprised of INTOYs and yearly selects Indiana’s Teacher of the Year through the rigorous application process. The INTOY committee supports and provides guidance to the selected INTOY during their year of recognition and year of service. This committee also supports and gives feedback to the Indiana Department of Education and CCSSO.
