The Indiana State Board of Education approved as final educators’ cut score recommendations for I AM on July 25, 2019. This document contains the approved I AM cut scores, as well as the highest and lowest obtainable scale scores for each content area assessment.

An I AM interpretive guide can be found on the Indiana Portal.

Released Items Repository

The Office of Student Assessment (OSA) releases several items per grade and content area each year from Indiana’s Alternate Measure (I AM) assessments. Released Items are provided in AIR’s sample test delivery system and can be used as sample assessments to familiarize students with test content and format.

Included in the Released Items Repository are:

  • Sample items for each grade level, content area, and tier
  • Designated supports and accommodations (may be applied at will on any assessment by any user)

Performance Level Descriptors

Policy PLDs

The I AM Policy Performance Level Descriptors (PLDs) are high-level statements that reflect the varying degrees to which students may demonstrate proficiency on each grade-level I AM assessment. A diverse panel of Indiana educators convened to consider many factors (e.g., Indiana’s diverse student populations, the Indiana Alternate Academic Standards or Content Connectors, and national reference points) as they defined each Policy PLD.

The Policy PLDs were used to develop more specific content area Range PLDs to inform item development, instructional practices and standard setting.

Range PLDs

The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) enlisted Indiana educators to develop Range PLDs for the I AM assessment. The I AM Range PLDs are content-specific statements that reflect the varying degrees to which students may demonstrate proficiency on grade-level Content Connectors assessed on the upcoming I AM assessment. IDOE will use the I AM Range PLDs to inform item development and standard setting, while Indiana educators are welcome to use them to help inform instructional practices.
