.This course is an introductory Chinese language course for students who have none or little prior experience in the language. It is to develop students four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing the Chinese language, as well as gaining understanding of Chinese culture. The course is self-paced with use of the Internet and online software to accelerate the learning. Chinese history and culture will be included as it related to each language lesson. Pinyin (phonetic symbols) will be used as a supplementary tool to learn the spoken language. Both traditional and simplified Chinese will be introduced and practiced through the course.
