In increasing numbers, educators are using Twitter to connect with peer groups and to keep up-to-date with the latest education developments. What was once just a space for the tech-savvy to trade ideas, has become a vehicle for sharing news, policy and pedagogy across the state. Indiana, known for collaboration and strong learner networks, has used this tool to establish conversations on a number of different topics, and we use hashtags to archive the content and allow others to join the conversation. You can find one of the most robust edtech conversations at #INeLearn, the math community is sharing resources at #INspireEDmath, and following #IDOESEL will connect you to social and emotional learning content.
What is #INedchat?
While the twitterverse is great for connecting small communities, it is also great for building momentum in large communities. The idea is that #INedchat will provide a spot for a statewide, ongoing conversation about education in Indiana. At the IDOE, we have already begun to use it to tag resources and opportunities coming from our offices, and we hope you will add #INedchat to any tweets that you don't want us to miss. We will also be hosting a live chat each Wednesday night at 8:00pm ET. If you search the hashtag during this time span, you can tune in to conversations on a variety of education topics, and you can add your voice by just adding the hashtag to your tweets. Check out these additional pages to learn more about how to live chat, see a list of upcoming topics, or discover additional hashtags.
