In preparing for its outreach presence at the 17 day Indiana State Fair, the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) searched for a partner committed to the values of increasing childhood literacy, encouraging family reading time, and building home libraries. The clear choice was Scholastic, the global children's publishing, education, and media company.
With the opportunity to reach hundreds of families during the State Fair, the Indiana Department of Education and Scholastic found they shared similar values and a strong desire to work together. As a result, Scholastic has donated 800 K-12 books and 2,000 customized bookmarks which will be distributed through IDOE’s presence at the State Fair.
“Through this partnership, families visiting IDOE at the State Fair will have the opportunity to interact with our staff, learn about all we do, and receive a free book,” said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, State Superintendent of Public Instruction. “We appreciate the chance to work with Scholastic and are grateful for their support.”
The Indiana State Fair runs August 3 through August 19. Please visit the Indiana Department of Education booth in the Exposition Hall. Also be certain to join IDOE on “Educator Appreciation Days” August 4 and 18 at our interactive booth near the entrance to the Skyride.
