INDIANAPOLIS – In partnership with the Indiana Nutrition Council, the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) announced today Marcia Miller of Orchard View Elementary in Middlebury as the 2018 School Food Service Employee of the Year. Marcia has served Orchard View Elementary as Kitchen Manager for nearly 24 years.

“Ensuring our students are provided healthy and nutritious meals to keep their minds and bodies engaged in learning is important to their success,” said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction. “I want to congratulate Marcia Miller for her dedication and thank her, along with all food service employees across the state, for their service.”

Created in 1997, the Indiana School Food Service Employee of the Year Award provides formal recognition to school food service employees who contribute significantly to the health and learning capabilities of students. To be nominated, employees must demonstrate high-quality customer service, positive attitude, professionalism, and teamwork.

As a School Food Service Employee of the Year, Miller will receive a plaque from IDOE showing formal recognition of her achievement, along with a $200 award, presented by the Indiana Nutrition Council.
