Course Description: 

American Sign Language III is a continuation of American Sign Language I and II expanding the emphasis of ASL grammar, vocabulary development, conversational skills, and Deaf Culture. The main goal of third year students is to master narrative skills. Students will tell about incidents, presenting facts, explaining rules, and illustrating health-related topics along with the use of different types of classifiers and 1 techniques to organize information visually. A variety of aspects of Deaf culture will be discussed, such as describing common incidents, facts, and customs of Deaf people. Students will research the causes of deafness as well as recognizing practices of audism.
