Smart Snacks in School Offices & Wellness Policies

  • USDA’s Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 put in place regulation that applies not only to school food service, but the entire school community as a whole. Since the 2014-2015 school year, any food or beverages sold to students on the school campus during the school day must be Smart Snack approved. This includes food or beverages sold for fundraisers, during group projects, or by Parent Teacher Organizations. Additionally Wellness Policy regulations were put into place to ensure that health and wellness was prioritized by the school. Administrators and Business Officials are recommended to view this webinar to ensure their programs and policies are in compliance.
